8/5/2023 0 Comments Onyx hotel boston![]() Walking into the lobby there are dog treats on the counter and there is a water bowl for the dogs to drink out of. This hotel is amazing and so pet friendly. The closest grass is around 3 blocks but it is a short walk and beyond that there is a park. Our dog, Opie, doesn't 'do her business' just anywhere and she needs grass in order to go. I satisfied my curiosity, but I likely won't return here on my next Boston visit.Going into this hotel I was a little apprehensive because I was bringing my dog with my mother and I. There are many many choices of places to stay in a big city like Boston. The desk area in the bedroom did have plenty of space for my computer. Thus while the bathroom had a large fancy sink, there was not much counter space to put other toiletries and pills down. ![]() The room was small as one might expect from a boutique hotel. Instead, I had dinner in the neighborhood (plenty of choices around North Station!) and passed on the breakfast provided, which ended up being just some pastries I didn't want. My understanding from my reservation and Hilton policy is that I was entitled to a food credit, which I had understood to mean I would pay for dinner or breakfast or snacks in the lobby minus the credit. I was told that breakfast would be served in the morning in the lobby. I always ask for a plastic key in addition to the digital one, as sometimes in the past the latter has not worked. As usual I had made my reservation online and did the online check-in and room selection the day before arrival. The outer walls were thin, as I could hear outside noise in the street from the 10th floor. It was obvious upon arrival and throughout the stay that little was done to the building when it changed ownership. This hotel was recently reflagged from Kimpton to Curio by Hilton, and it was close to North Station where I would be catching a train in the morning, so I decided to give it a try. Racquel & Kimpton, thank you a million times over for making our trip to Boston so memorable for me & my 79+ year-old dear Daddy! We will never forget you or the Onyx! Shoutout to Vincent as well for his amazing hospitality! Racquel went out of her way to help us and even inquired about our drive home to Detroit. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time an employee made me feel so welcome, appreciated, and cared for at a hotel. I would always be so happy to see her at the front desk! I would say in jest, but also somewhat meaning it, “Oh look! There’s my new best friend Raquel!”. She assisted us when Dad & I were soaked during a rain storm, was very patient with our requests, and just an all-around wonderful person. She was so genuine, welcoming, fun, and kind. During our stay, we were lucky to see and be greeted by Racquel daily. He made sure to have some goodies for us in the room, and gave us a nice upgrade that was very comfortable for both my dad and me. Then, the day before we left, I spoke with Vincent and shared with him that my dad will be turning 80 within the next 6-7 months. She was very kind, thorough, and gracious. First off, I called Kimpton Onyx a few times to inquire about restaurants, and I spoke with Racquel and a couple occasions. We did take the T to Fenway from the North Station and that was a very easy walk and trip. The neighborhood is charming, and we were close to everywhere he wanted to go between the North End, Faneuil Hall/Quincy market, as well as even Boston Commons & the Back Bay. We were so very excited, and the Kimpton Onyx did not disappoint. I took my 79-year-old dad to Boston so that he could see Fenway for the first time ever.
